The English East India Company was concerned with its own profits.The textile mills in England needed a regular supply of raw cotton.The Company took cotton at very low prices and sent it to England.In return mill made cloth was send to India.Since cloth made on machines was cheaper the handloom industry of India suffered .Thousands of Indian weavers became unemployed and poor.
